Speech and Debate

If you hear someone talking at school about the NFL, don’t assume that they are talking about football. NFL can also stand for the National Forensics League, sometimes referred to as Speech and Debate.

So what is Speech? Speech and Debate is an academic sport that is devoted to teaching students skills that will be helpful in life. Different areas of competition include: Student Congress, Drama, Duet, Humor, Extemporaneous speaking, and many more. Whether you’re an academic or an actor, there is always an event that you might enjoy.

The coaches for this team are Mrs. Russel and Mr. Davis. They are a lot of fun and they are very committed to helping you succeed. Mrs. Russel is the drama coach, Mr. Davis is the Speaking coach, and they are currently looking for a new debate coach.

Speech and Debate is a lot of fun and it will soon be starting. The first official meeting is Monday the 15th after school in room 224. If you miss the first meeting, that’s okay. The team meets on a weekly basis, and it’s never too late to join. Speech is a great way to prepare yourself for life, and it is a good way to have fun.
